As every mariner knows hulls below the water line have to be treated annually for barnacles and weed, especially in the warmer waters of the world where most yachts cruise. Antifouling application is expensive as the vessel will have to be taken from the water for the hull to be cleaned and coated. The formula for all antifouling systems applied by brush or spray are toxic and it is advised that all applicators use protective clothing and face masks and follow the application directions supplied by the manufacturers to the letter. Modern methods of managing fouling can include ultrasonics and keeping your hull and propeller clean will decrease the use of fuel.
